When I first started playing I turned off wandering monsters but I have them set to many now as well as defenders set to strong. Slow units in battle can't respond if your enemy does the old switcheroo by sending everything to one flank (letting you focus 12 units on 6 then going back to mop up the other 6). Slow units on the main map make you take longer to expand. It often isn't worth the gold to buy combat uprade buildings for small/low tier towns. When you start to have a sprawling empire it can take a long time to get units to the front. mobility does matter in this game on both the stategic and tactical map. I don't play rogue but backstab should make this tactic very effective.Īlso. This causes the enemy unit to get attacked in the flank and he does not get to attack you back. Get your unit on the enemy target's flank with orange movement. You can overwhelm most armies with cheap units that can backstab.Īs far as combat in this game goes there is one tried and true method to fight really tough units. Tier 3/4 units are fun and easy because they have good survivability but they are expensive. Their units cost more gold/mana because they are dwarves. I don't know if you have expendable troops in your stack but that is one way to beat dwarves. but only slightly less overpowered.Īs for how to win your scenario. Just for the record by the way your shadow stalker elementals are also a kinda bs tier 3 unit. Seriously I would much rather fight firstborn spam than juggernaut spam. The good news is that they weren't juggernauts. Simply put the Dwarf firstborn is kind of a broken unit in that it has so many abilties and good health/stats as a tier 3 unit. Necromancer for example hard counters everything blight based (goblin rogue, non summoned druid pets, etc). The bottom line is that some race+class combinations hard counter others. Was this a one on one game? If so what were you doing so that the enemy got to the last level of racial governance? The game should be over before you get to that point (but let's pretend you're playing on a large map with surface/underground vs 7 emperor AIs like I'm currently doing in my game).
